Edgewood starts New Year with big win over South Putnam

After a 2-week layoff, it took a few minutes for Edgewood to shake off the rust, but the Mustangs found their footing midway through the 2nd quarter and galloped away with a 63 - 37 win over visiting South Putnam. Edgewood crashed the the boards and came away with 16 offensive rebounds which led to several second-chance opportunities that they capitalized on to steadily build their lead. The Mustangs also played unselfishly, with 16 assists on 22 made field goals for the game. Caden Jones led the way with 15 points, followed by Will Inman with 12, and Owen McGovern and Reece Roberts with 9 points each. In addition, Carl Norris scored 7, Kam Ranard had 5, AJ Norris scored 4, and Nolan Reynolds had 2 points to complete the scoring. McGovern grabbed 9 points and Ranard had 5 to lead the effort on the glass, while Carl Norris had 3 steals. Reynolds passed out 4 assists, with McGovern, Carl Norris and Carson Huttenlocker adding 3 assists each. Edgewood is back in action next Friday evening when they host rival Owen Valley.
