Edgewood falls just short at Bloomington North

Edgewood got out of the gate slowly, with Bloomington North hitting a barrage of 3-pointers to start the game to jump out to a 19 - 7 lead. However, from there the Mustangs regrouped and outscored the host Cougars in each of the final 3 quarters, taking the game down to the wire in a tough 62 - 57 loss. Edgewood cut the lead down to 2 with 13 seconds left on a 3-pointer by AJ Norris. Then, after the Cougars hit one of two from the free throw line, the Mustangs had a chance to tie on a Caden Jones 3-point attempt with 2 seconds left, but the officials swallowed their whistles and didn't call the obvious foul. An Edgewood foul on the rebound and 2 more Cougar free throws led to the final margin. AJ Norris scored 14 points to lead a balanced Edgewood attack that saw four Mustangs reach double figures, with Will Inman and Reece Roberts scoring 11 points each and Kam Ranard adding 10 points. Carl Norris scored 2 points to complete the scoring. Ranard grabbed 5 rebounds and AJ Norris had 3 assists to lead those categories for Edgewood. The Mustangs are back on the road on Tuesday evening when they travel to Martinsville.
